Taunton taxis join forces

TWO Taunton taxi companies have joined forces to create a fleet with over 60 vehicles.
A1 Deane Taxis and ACE Taxis of Taunton announced the merger on Saturday and will now go under the name A1 ACE Taxis.
Mike Davis from the company said: “The merger has been created from the desire of both owners to put the customers of Taunton at the centre of how they run their business.
“With over 60 vehicles the newly formed business will have over seven times the number of vehicles of the closest local competitor.
“Operating 24 hours a day, every day of the year.”
He added: “A1 ACE Taxis are the only local Taxi Company that use a computer despatch system, which satellite tracks all the vehicles, providing real time information to the control room.
“This investment in technology helps in making timely despatch decisions and enables communication with customers for when things go wrong such as severe traffic delays.
“Customers can request a pre arrival call, which drivers can activate when they are close to arriving.
“With a fleet the size of A1 ACE Taxis it means that we are more likely to have a car closer to customers, so reducing mileage spent travelling to customers.
“This means lower cost which is passed back to customers by a discount of at least 10% on the council set tariff.”
