New York taxi comes to Wallsend

AN AUTHENTIC yellow New York taxi cab which has starred in major Hollywood movies has come to live in Wallsend.
'Oscar' the yellow cab was bought by Steve Davis two weeks ago for 8,000 in an online charity auction to help promote his advertising business.
The car was used in the filming of Mamma Mia, Ghost Rider 2 with Nicholas Cage and the 2008 Christmas special of TV show Jonathan Creek.
"I bought it because it was different and something that hadn't been done before and cant be done again with an authentic cab, as the only ones you get in this country are replicas," Steve told the News Guardian.
"I thought it would be a great promotion tool for my new business which promotes advertising on all taxis in the north east and it has worked a treat.
"It is unique in the UK and is possibly the only authentic yellow taxi. You cannot buy them privately in the USA as they are specifically produced for taxi companies.
"This was only shipped over for the film and is fully functional. Everything from the taxi meter to the top sign is in perfect working condition.
"It gets a massive amount of attention, the phone hasn't stopped since i purchased it. People want it for weddings, birthdays and for advertising it's a great asset."
